in the name of tolerance...
following a complaint by a muslim employee, novelty pig-related items (including toys, porcelain figures, calendars, and even a tissue box featuring winnie the pooh and yes, piglet) have been banned from a council office in the uk (benefits department at dudley council, west midlands) -- in order to not offend muslim staff.
the ban of piglet follows another incident at burger king in the uk, where bk withdrew its ice-cream cones from its british restaurants because another muslim complained that the swirl on the lid resembles the word "allah" in arabic script.
one is to wonder: is banning piglet or the abstract swirl on burger king's ice-cream a victory for tolerance? if muslims want to live in the west shouldn't they learn to coexist with piglet and the bk swirl? and if they can't coexist with these fictitious and abstract innocent images how are they ever going to accept a pluralist western society?

Είναι κάποιο hoax αυτό ή το έχουν χάσει εντελώς οι Βρετανοί; Ποιο θα είναι το επόμενο βήμα, να απαγορευτεί το muppet show και η Piggy;
δυστηχώς δεν είναι hoax. πιστεύω ότι οι άγγλοι στην προσπάθειά τους να φανούν tolerant χάσανε τη μπάλα. απ'ότι κατάλαβα, ναι, αν η piggy ήταν σε κάποια κούπα υπαλλήλου θα απαγορευόταν στο dudley council. μιλάμε για γελοιότητες.
ξέχασα να γράψω ότι ο τύπος που ενοχλήθηκε απ'τη φωτογραφία του παγωτού έκανε έκκληση στους μουσουλμάνους της αγγλίας να μποϋκοτάρουν το burger king και μάλλον αυτό λειτούργησε καταλυτικά
