liberation biology: the moral and scientific case for the biotech revolution

a must read book by ronald bailey.

he makes the case that science can, and will, help us live longer, healthier, and happier lives, without creating human clones or designer plagues. he dispels many myths and clearly demonstrates why doctors and scientists, not politicians, should be left to confront the uncertainties of biotechnology much the same way they confronted the ethics of other scientific breakthroughs such as in vitro fertilization, birth control pills, x-rays, etc. lastly, he supports that ultimately, patients and families should have the freedom to choose or reject stem cell and biotech benefits for personal reasons.

glad to see someone's optimistic about the marvelous future biotechnology has to offer as opposed to the ill-informed pessimism (eg, greenpeace) that prevails
